Gardens and Neighborhoods

Life as an alderman has been very good, so far.

I'm excited about several events over the last couple weeks. I have had the good fortune of working alongside volunteers at 4 separate native Wisconsin perennial gardens. These gardens are located at Franklin Middle School, Jefferson Elementary, MacArthur Elementary and at the northeast corner of Monroe and Walnut in downtown Green Bay.

Tonight, I was invited to speak at the meeting to form anew the Fort Howard Neighborhood Association. The west side of downtown will again have an active association of concerned neighbors. I am looking forward to working with the group. FHNA has much in common with the Downtown Neighborhood Association, the group in which I've had the pleasure of serving as president since its inception in early 2009. Each is a core downtown neighborhood, both are economically diverse, and each contains an amazing urban elementary school- Howe and Ft. Howard, respectively.
